JOHN HEGLEY is one of the country's most famous wearer of glasses. He also writes and recites very well indeed. He cut his teeth on the streets of Hull and London in the 1970's and 80's and fronted the pop group, Popticians, with whom he recorded two sessions for the Radio 1 legend, John Peel. He has since been regualarly featured in the national press, on radio and television. Hegley has published twelve books of verse and prose, two cd's and one mug. An Edinburgh Fringe regular, he is noted for exploring such diverse topics as dog hair, potatoes, handkerchieves and the misery of human existence. Two new collections were published last year, with Bloodaxe (New & Selected potatoes) and Frances Lincoln (I Am A Poetato).

GEORGE CHOPPING is from Torquay, by the sea, originally but now he lives on the Thames, on a long boat with his short wife, a cat but no goat. His debut collection of verse, Smoking with Crohn's was published in 2012 (Unbound). He is an eighth of the way through his second book, poems from which will be aired on the evening. He prefers pomegranates to dogs.
