Belfast launch of Gathering Evidence by Caoilinn Hughes and Tonight the Summer is Over by Rory Waterman. Hosted by the T.S. Eliot award winning poet Sinéad Morrissey and the Seamus Heaney Poetry Centre at Queen's College. Wine will be provided.
Rory Waterman was born in Belfast and grew up in rural Lincolnshire. His poems have appeared in the bestselling anthology New Poetries V (Carcanet, 2011), The Best British Poetry 2012 (Salt, 2012) and various other publications. He teaches English literature and creative writing at Nottingham Trent University. He was a Hawthornden Fellow in 2012 and currently co-edits New Walk arts magazine. His début Carcanet collection Tonight the Summer's Over is a Poetry Book Society Recommendation.
Caoilinn Hughes was born in Galway, Ireland in 1985. With BA and MA degrees from the Queen's University of Belfast, she moved to New Zealand. After working for Google, running a small business and writing novels on the weekends, she enrolled in a Ph.D. at Victoria University of Wellington. A selection of poems from Gathering Evidence won the 2012 Patrick Kavanagh Award, the 2013 Cúirt New Writing Prize, the 2012 STA Travel Writing Prize and the 2013 Trócaire / Poetry Ireland Competition.
