Burn After Reading: Hannah Walker and Ali Gadema
This event on 7th February 2014 at 19:00 has past.
We are back for the sixth incarnation of Burn After Reading!
Burn After Reading is a new poetry community established by Jacob Sam-La Rose. We write, we read, we perform, we publish - as widely as possible. We celebrate a diverse range of poetics from 'spoken word' to 'page' and points in between. We celebrate the importance of understanding craft and of community.
Members of the collective will be performing alongside feature poets showing London exactly what the next generation of writers has to offer.
This month will feature:
Hannah Jane Walker:
Hannah works tirelessly in poetry and theater. Her show 'The Oh Fuck Moment' won an 'Edinburgh Fringe First'. Her new show 'I Wish I Was Lonely' is an intricate look at our relationship with technology told through beautiful poetry and spoken word. Usually alongside her writing partner Chris Thorpe, tonight Hannah will be working her magic alone.
Ali Gadema A.K.A The Green Pookie:
Coming out of the heart of Manchester Ali Gadema A.K.A The Green Pookie, is a rapper and spoken word artist who engages directly with inner city street life. He has performed one man shows and works with youth poetry collective 'Young Identity' mentoring and producing some of the best young poets in the North. He has performed at festivals across the UK most recently on Glastonbury's Poetry and Words stage.
These wonders of the spoken word scene will be supported by some of the best young poets working in the country.
