In Supper Room at venue.
An evening of poetry and music. The event features two outstanding performers: poet Moniza Alvi author of seven books of poetry and three times shortlisted for the T.S.Eliot prize and Pete Morton, a songwriter, singer and 'folk rapper' with a wealth of great songs and stage presence. Alvi's latest book At the Time of Partition, perhaps her most ambitious work, 'consists of 20 poems which flow into each other to create a single haunting and lyrical narrative, welding the personal and the public. The result is a stunning, skilled and controlled work of immense grandeur...spare, compelling and timeless...so visceral that it has an extraordinary power.' It has been shortlisted for the 2013 T.S.Eliot prize. Pete Morton's shows are dynamic and intense, his songs an unruly mix of humour, politics, love and social comment, wrapping their way around the folk tradition. The M/C is Ross Baxter and the Poem and a Pint committee, all well known local poets, will provide the short readings.
Price: £6.00 / £4.00
