After leaving 2013 behind us with a big bang and a sold out gig at The Royal Albert Hall's Elgar Room, we're super excited to be back bringing you the best of spoken word and music into your hearts/minds/playlists. February's Poejazzi will see us doing what we do best: mingling cult favourites with new discoveries who we think have bright, shiny futures ahead of them.
To celebrate the release our first (and free!) Poejazzi poetry app in a mere few days after this event we thought we'd treat you to a couple of extra special guests who feature on the app instead of our usual 4 artist line up. Tickets tend to sell quickly so buy early to avoid disappointment! £5 Early bird tickets are available from Thurs Jan 30 - Wed Feb 12th. Otherwise tickets are £7 online/student/concessions and £10 on the door.
Adam Kammerling - Adam is 2012's Hammer and Tongue National Slam Poet Champion and a festival favourite who seamlessly merges poetry, rap, theatre and comedy to make gritty, observant and slightly surreal spoken word.
Will Adlard - Will Adlard blends electro, folk and the blues effortlessly and authentically. His music is poetic, dark, and gorgeous, oh and he also sings one of the best versions of Bob Dylan's Mama, You've Been On My Mind we've ever heard. Catch this Ivor Novello nominated singer songwriter while you can.
Laurie Bolger - Roundhouse Radio host/Bang Said The Gun presenter and stand up poet Laurie Bolger is hilarious, poignant, and can mould the minutae of everyday life like nights out and bad dates into masterful storytelling.
Oscar Laurence - Think Jeff Buckley in a love triangle with Chet Baker and James Blake, then mix it with something inexplicable and voila! you have Oscar Laurence. We first heard Oscar at Brainchild Festival last year, we were actually watching someone else but on hearing his vocals soaring across the field we had to find out who this magical voice belonged to: a voice big enough and distinctive enough to cut through someone else’s performance miles away was worth getting our hungover asses up for.
PLUS SPECIAL POETRY GUESTS (it won't be Jay-Z and Beyonce but it'll be amazing, promise)
Entry: £5 online until Feb 12/£7 online/£10 on the door
Time: 7:30pm
Note: Write Out Loud does its best to ensure the accuracy of event listings but can accept no liability or responsibility if it's just plain wrong.
