Is there a Doctor in the House?
A Poetry PhD Festival

Tutors: Poets and PhD candidates Tara Bergin, John Challis, Kathy D’Arcy, Alireza Hassani, A B Jackson, Lisa Matthews, Janet Rogerson, Helen Taylor

The Poem Noir. The Bloodaxe archive. Irish women poets of the ‘30s. The poetry of Polar exploration. When the Poetry School hears about the new subjects under investigation by current poetry PhD candidates, our first thought is how we can share those discoveries with our students. With our PhD festival, we’ve found a way. We’ve invited eight PhD candidates to give Poetry School students a speedy précis of their studies through a day-long programme of mini lectures and micro workshops. Pick the subjects and approaches that interest you, and you’ll come away bursting with new ideas for your own future reading, writing, performing and publishing projects. No mortar boards necessary to attend: it’s a day for ideas, company, conversation and everyone.
