In Memory of Amiri Baraka: Performance
The start of 2014 saw the passing of AMIRI BARAKA, viewed by many as one of the most influential, controversial and galvanising cultural figures of the twentieth century.
As poet, novelist, playwright, music critic, editor, and cultural organiser, Baraka extended the possibilities of modern writing. Following a day long symposium (tickets available here) we assess the scope of over 65 years of work, and consider the importance and potentialities of Baraka's career across a range of disciplines.
This evening performance will mark the late poet's life and work with readings by poets and speakers, many of whom knew him personally, and which include: LINTON KWESI JOHNSON, JEAN 'BINTA' BREEZE, KAYO CHINGONYI, SEAN BONNEY, MICHAEL ZAND, MELANIE ABRAHAMS and YVETTE HEYLIGER
Entry: £5 - £10
Time: 7:00pm
