The Comet is Coming features MOBO award winner and Melt Yourself Down member Shabaka Hutchings, Danalogue (Dan Leavers) and Betamax (Max Hallett). Some of the words that apply to their awe inspiring form of jazz include: "Futuristic", "Cosmic", "Sci-fi", "Hipster", "Punk." Shabaka is back at it again: redefining popular notions of jazz and distorting genre lines but what else would you expect from this classically trained master improviser with a maverick attitude?
Hollie McNish - her witty yet sensitive poems range in topic from immigration to the foibles of new motherhood and they have garnered her over a million views on YouTube. This viral poet and spoken word favourite warmly delivers biting social commentary that always gets under peoples' skins and firmly lodges itself in their memories.
Hugh - Lush electro-R&B pop from blogosphere darlings Hugh who create poetic but seriously catchy lyrics against a sophisticated backdrop. "With the ethereal vocals of Izzy Brooks interwoven with the deeper-set vocals of Joshua Idehen (of Benin City)...(they) gain access to a unique depth." Hilly Dilly
These Ghosts - Think Radiohead has a love child with a young Londoner with a penchant for electro. These Ghosts are one of our favourite artists to be featured on the new indie label NX Records "a collaboration between Matthew Herbert's Accidental Records, and the students of Goldsmiths, University of London's popular music course. Showcasing the best sounds from New Cross, London." Dazed Digital
Deanna Rodger - never afraid to tackle the important stuff, from love to feminism to race, armed with an animated style and some of the most beautiful, abstract and yet relatable metaphors you'll probably ever come across. She even tackled that Lily Allen video for It's Hard Out Here, and her response was so good Lily thanked her for being "brave" and "eloquent" and "for opening up a discussion" (yeah, that's right): Deanna is one of the most promising young voices out there.
