Spoken Word London are honoured to announce that we will be hosting the opening night of the exciting Survival Guides artistic programme of events in Brixton on Thursday 1st May.

Survival Guides promises a diverse delve into the modern city and how the idea of community can be sustained within the urban sphere, exactly the ethos of Spoken Word London. Curated by Jacob Joyce and produced by Alice Moon, the official website is available here: http://survivalguidesbrixton.com/

In addition to our open-mic on the 1st (sign up for a slot between 7.30-8pm at Art Nouveau), we will be having a showcase of ten regular Spoken Word London performers giving us their words, curated especially for the Survival Guides theme by SWL host Pat Cash.

Andrea Luces - 'Free Poetry'

Dean McKee & Hannah Gordon - 'True Character'

Ibrahim Bashiru - 'New Generation of Black'

Ernesto Sarezale - 'Undercurrents'

Sam Rossi-Harries - 'Personable'

Bethany Rose

Sara Nicola Ruth

Nyasha Paragon Langley

Carmina Masoliver

Chris Lawrence - 'Time Wasters'

On the open-mic it will be business as usual, with each reader getting a five minute slot and no one getting any more than five minutes. All welcome, as always. Free entry.

The night will be hosted by Jacob Joyce and Jack Cole.
