The Daring Bards of May
with Dave Reeves, Jacqui Rowe and Billy Spakemon.
Introduced by the Black Country Living Museum's poet-in-residence Dave Reeves, May's guest artists are Jacqui Rowe and Billy Spakemon.
Billy Spakemon is the performance persona of Dr Brian Dakin an expert in Black Country language and culture, and a singer and raconteur who has the ability to get to the emotional heart of the hardships of Black Country working life.
Jacqui Rowe is an acclaimed poet who was winner of the first Black Country Living Museum Poetry Competition, and is a respected translator of the poems of war poems of the French poet Apollinaire. She is co-director of the successful Flarestack Poetry Pamphlets and co-ordinator of Poetry Bites in KIngs Heath, Birmingham.
And, as always, there will be plenty of chance to read your own work in a friendly supportive atmosphere. So come along, sign up for a spot, and join Dave as he explores the boundaries of writing, performance and the limits of spoken language. Take a chance and be one of The Daring Bards of May.
