This month please note that Pop Up is on the TWELFTH OF AUGUST (the second Tuesday, not the third, of the month.) That’s because our energetic host, Dónall Dempsey, is in Ireland for the third week of the month, reading in Cork.
So make sure you’ve go the right date in your diary because we wouldn’t like you to miss out. We have two featured writers/performers this month, and of course all the floor-spots we can fit in before 10.30. We’re hoping the Dirty Carols will come along, too.
Bret Van Toen is one of the strongest performers we know, with a wonderful voice. He has been a poet, a performer and an educator for many years in London. He was an active member of Shadowork, and worked collaboratively with Martin Crucefix, Mario Petrucci and Sarah Van Gogh, on Diorama, a multi-media project. Brett is the most consistently good-humoured man we know, too!
We met Gill Bloodaxe in Brighton, where he was making everyone smile at the Red Roaster. To introduce him, I can do no better than to quote from a review of his show “Lowdown” at the Brighton Fringe last year: ““Ace manipulator of words and music, the indefinable” Bloodaxe’s work is full of everyday absurdities and skewed observations”
Come along at 7.00 if you would like to read your own work in a five-minute spot, and we start at 7.30.
Entry: Free
Time: 7:30pm
