THIS IS NOT IN CROYDON BUT EPSOM. THIS IS THE NEAREST CITY IT WOULD ACCEPT.
Any Stage Republic invites you to an evening of live poetry and live music at the Playhouse, situated in the lively and open Meyers Room – a new kind of entertainment comes to Epsom.
With poetry from nationally renowned Roundhouse slam winner Antosh Wojick, prepare for verse like no other. Taking an evening off from his two Collectives (Barbican and Burn After Reading), he returns to Epsom for your entertainment. If that wasn’t enough, we've got some of the best Blues from the enigmatic Lost Cause Cowboys, bringing a rare mix of soul and deadpan humour not to be missed.
This event is also a fantastic chance to help your local charity Epsom and Ewell PHAB for young people with a range of disabilities. The volunteer-based youth group meets most Friday nights and offers a range of activities for all abilities, as well as giving parents some down-time from what can otherwise become a very pressured lifestyle. This event (organised by Any Stage Republic in association with SM Presents) aims to help raise money for PHAB.
You will get a chance to see both organisations founders in action. Kane Holborn (previously a member of PHAB) takes to the stage with his prolific reader. His performers an intriguing blend of whimsical lyric and musical nostalgia, whilst keeping inclusion at the forefront. His organisation AnyStage Republic carries this message at its crux.
SM Ripper will also be displaying his vision of poetry. Dedicated to making art accessible and affordable for everyone SM Presents aims to set up system of shows, open mics and workshops in Winchester and beyond to help inspire and encourage people of any background back into guerrilla art, whilst working through the local community.
With all this and plenty of surprises and a chance to preview some of acts from the upcoming Winchester Fringe poetry festival this will be an evening like no other.
