The Burn After Reading Poets’ monthly event has moved home!
Now at the Seven Dials Club, Covent Garden ‘Burn After Reading Presents’ returns on Tuesday 7th October with a transatlantic special featuring R. A. Villanueva, Paula Varjack and our very own Burn After Reading Poets.
R.A. Villanueva is the author of Reliquaria (U. Nebraska Press, 2014), winner of the Prairie Schooner Book Prize; he is also the winner of the inaugural Ninth Letter Literary Award for poetry. A founding editor of Tongue: A Journal of Writing & Art, he lives in Brooklyn and London.
Paula Varjack (U.K./U.S) is a writer and performance maker. She was one of nine artists in residence for the E.U. funded Poetry Slam Days project, creating a multilingual show: Smoke and Mirrors, that toured to twenty European cities. In 2009 she represented the U.K. in the Berlin International Literature Festival. She is also the creator and co-producer of the Anti-Slam, a satirical take on poetry slams where the worst poet wins. Born just over a year ago Burn After Reading (aka BAR or BARPo) is a community of emerging poets established by Jacob Sam-La Rose and Jasmine Cooray that manifests a diverse range of poetics from 'spoken word' to 'page' and points in between. http://barpoetry.tumblr.com
