A Wakefield poet has fused poetry with music to create an album that celebrates local people and places.
Jimmy Andrex, who co-founded Red Shed Readings at the City’s Labour Club, will be launching the CD at the Orangery, Back Lane on Thursday 9th October at 7.30pm.
Jimmy has previously published two collections of poetry, Gormless, in 2011 and Leet in 2013, both through Sandal imprint, Currock Press and he often performs his poetry to music when he performs in venues all over the North of England.
“I’m really proud of all the tracks, and it has taken about a year to get the thing sounding the way I wanted it.”
Production duties were undertaken by ex Fear of Jazz and Young Americans frontman Simon Gorham, with additional production by Kippax producer Dom Bennison.
The launch will also feature performances from Newmillerdam writer Debs Robinson, Holmfirth electronic act Poet and the Loops and Wakefield born writer and Coronation Street actress Jane Steele.
