In an end-of-the-year celebration of words and music, The Works' Canteen features another excellent programme with guest poets Jane Seabourne and Albarz. Introduced by the museum's poet-in-residence, the poet, performer and squeezebox player Dave Reeves, there's plenty of opportunity to join in with the regular contributors and read your own work.
Jane Seabourne's poems are well-observed and witty insights into everyday life. She lives in Wolverhampton and performs as part of the 'Funny Women' poetry trio. Her current collection Bright Morning, features on Poetry on Loan's recommended reading list 'Here, There and Everywhere,' and is being promoted throughout libraries across the West Midlands.
Albarz performs his poetry with his trusty Yamaha (not the motorbike but the keyboard). Using melody and rhythm he adds lustre to his unique, often humorous style which has entertained audiences across the region.
So come along and join us, take part and read your own work or simply sit back and listen to a thoroughly entertaining evening of spoken work in the friendly atmosphere of the Rolfe Street cafe.
