Hi! Our second Word Club night will take place on Friday 27th February 2015, from 7.30 pm, at The Chemic Tavern, Leeds. Our headliner this month (photo below) is the critically acclaimed, Char March! We also have two special guest slots from young guns, Chris Singleton and Dan Whitaker, as well as a host of ultra-talented open micers!
Char March’s performances are always a rollercoaster mix of pant-wettingly funny and achingly poignant. Char is a multi-award winning poet, playwright and fiction writer, who has appeared regularly on TV and Radio. Her latest collection is The Cloud Appreciation Society’s Day Out
and has received brilliant reviews. She has a new collection coming out in the summer of 2015.

Chris Singleton is the inventor of Crowd Versing, an improvisational form of spoken word based on audience suggestions. Chris is also an associate poet and host of Verbal Remedies Collective, Leeds.

Dan Whitaker is a poet from Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. Dan’s work has appeared in various magazines and papers and in the critically acclaimed anthology, How Am I Doing For Time? edited by the award winning poet, Tim Ellis.

We have at least 10 open mics slots available, so please come along and beguile us with your work. Time will be restricted to 3 minutes per person. Please time your work and stick to your 3 minutes so everyone can have an equal slot. Please see me (Mark Connors) on arrival to put your name down. We will do our best to fit everyone in but it won’t do your chances any harm if you arrive a bit earlier.

And remember, the first rule of WORD CLUB is:
WE ALWAYS TALK ABOUT WORD CLUB….SO SPREAD THE WORD!
