Award winning Broadcaster and Vocalist, Jumoké Fashola combines her love of music & spoken word in a series of MONTHLY evenings (second Sunday of the month) at Ronnie Scotts Upstairs (AKA Ronnie's Bar), designed to stimulate the senses, sooth the soul and energise the eardrums.
The JAZZ VERSE JUKEBOX continues the age-old tradition of intertwining jazz and performance poetry, offering an opportunity to hear some of the best established and up & coming performance poets; celebrity guests reading their favorite poetry and live jazz; plus a unique ‘jukebox’ open mic, allowing the audience to showcase their skills of jazz improvisation or spoken word. Join us for our annual 'Ones to Watch' at the Jazz Verse Jukebox on Sunday 8th March 2015,(Upstairs at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club) and as it's International Women's Day, we welcome the 'fresh' & the 'experienced' to a special night that features a mix of female artistes who are established & the ones to Watch' in 2015. With live jazz trio & Open Mic.
Featuring poet TONI STUART (@nomadpoet) - 'her passion is using words in ways that help people to discover their true value, live their wildest dreams and find the courage to listen to the voice in their hearts'; singer EDANA MINGHELLA (@edanaming) 'a singer of raw power and emotional intensity'; BURN AFTER READING (@BARpoetry) collective - 'one of the most exciting poetry and performance collectives currently at work in London.' With music from FLYNN (@Flynn_sings) - "writes and performs honest, bold and emotive songs from a personal perspective' and music from Jumoké Fashola - 'diverse musical tastes with emphasis on African inspired jazz.'
