Another Write Out Loud classic poetry night, in an historic socialist club that was forced to close, now the Red and Green Club, run by all the local community. It sits beside the locks where Jo Bell's poem is inscribed, on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.
All are welcome to read their own work, or a favourite, or to bring along a song or similar. We'll take owt, us.
A great atmosphere, with time to chat between poems, discuss and be brought back to the point by compere, Julian Jordon.
The bar is cheap and its profits go back to the club.

A Trainspotters special. Special because you will be reading your own work – train poems welcome, but not obligatory - and have a chance to listen to the poetry of special guest, Greg Freeman.
Ex Guardian journalist, now Write Out Loud News Editor, Greg’s recently launched anthology Trainspotters, has received much acclaim:
Trains chug through the poems in the grand tradition of Betjeman and O’Brien:
when we get to the end, we know we’ve arrived.
Tamar Yoseloff
The poems are snapshots of gone and going worlds, more evocative than any photo.
Brian Patten
These beautifully crafted and accessible poems are an impressive addition to the mythology of trains and train journeys.
David Cooke
Our last guest session was standing room only. Don’t miss this one! We shall pass the hat at the end to help cover Greg’s travel costs.
Entry: Free
Time: 7:30pm
