Storytelling Workshops at the Unicorn with Ben Haggarty. Fairytales capture the zeitgeist, perhaps it's the gothic allure of dark shadows, broken promises and unspoken secrets...
The Unicorn in association with the Crick Crack Club presents two workshops by godfather of the British storytelling revival, master fairytale teller, Ben Haggarty. He is the founder and Artistic Director of the Crick Crack Club, and Honorary Professor of Storytelling at the Arts University of Berlin. World renowned for his dynamic, often challenging performances, Ben has a repertoire of well over 350 folktales, fairytales, epics and myths. With more than 30 years experience of working with traditional narratives at every level of society, his understanding of orality, metaphor, magic and the dramaturgy of performance storytelling is unsurpassed.
This two-day, beginners' workshop will be practitioner-led and aimed at adults with a love of traditional narratives (folk tales, fairy tales and myths) and an interest or experience in performance. The workshop will give an introduction to the core principles of Oral Storytelling and explore the relationship between Storytelling and Theatre.
