Hi there! We’re back! Again!
After a mind watering evening in April, we return on 5th May with more BAR Poetry, alongside special feature poets MARTIN FIGURA and HANNAH LOWE...
MARTIN FIGURA was recently described in a hospital referral letter (bad back) as ‘a pleasant 56 year old gentleman’. His collection and show Whistle (Arrowhead Press) was shortlisted for the Ted Hughes Award and won the 2013 Saboteur Award for Best Spoken Word Show. It’s gathered a clutch of 4 and 5 star reviews and been performed from India to Swindon.
“Figura, was a revelation – funny, sharp and on top form.” Robert McCrum, The Observer

HANNAH LOWE’s first collection Chick (Bloodaxe, 2013) was short-listed for the Forward Best First Collection Prize, Seamus Heaney First Collection Prize and the Aldeburgh Fenton Best First Collection Prize. Her pamphlet, Ormonde (Hercules Editions) was published in November 2014, and her prose memoir Long Time, No See (Periscope) is due in July.
