Lesley Wheeler and Colin Watts
Lesley Wheeler’s mother was from Liverpool and Heterotopia, Lesley's second book, addresses that family history. Her fourth poetry collection, Radioland, is forthcoming in September 2015. She also publishes books and essays on 20th / 21st century poetry, including Voicing American Poetry: Sound and Performance from the 1920s to the Present. Lesley's work appears in Gettysburg Review, Ecotone, and Poetry. Recipient of fellowships from Fulbright, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and other grantors, Lesley Wheeler is the Henry S Fox Professor of English at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.
Colin Watts was born in Staines and has lived in Liverpool for a very long time. He trained as a civil engineer and town planner but soon turned to community development and adult education, working with community organisations and the Liverpool City Council and teaching creative writing for Liverpool University, the WEA etc. Now retired from the Adult Learning Service, he continues to teach on a freelance basis. In the late 80s and early 90s he wrote and performed sketches and plays for Network Socialist Theatre Company and had plays performed at Unity Theatre and other local venues.
Colin's poetry has appeared in a variety of magazines and anthologies and a pamphlet, Getting the Hang of It (2002) and his first collection, Human Geography (2005) were published by Driftwood Publications. His second collection, Taking Down the Tree House, was published by Headland Publications in 2011. More recently he’s been writing short stories and flash fiction. He is a long-standing member of the Dead Good Poets Society.
