Open Mic Event
The event is run in a relaxed manner with no pretensions or expectations ensuring that newcomers are frequently pleasantly surprised by the quality of the performances, and not infrequently by the content, and also that poets who have never read their work in public are welcomed.
I have lost count of the number of times I have heard someone timidly approach the microphone and ask for patience as it is their first time, and most of those readers gave a new perspective and were extremely grateful for the opportunity and experience.
