Simon Fletcher, well-known, popular poet from the West Midlands, launches his evocative fourth collection Close to Home (Headland). Born in the Wyre Forest, and now living near Oswestry, Simon is the Manager of Offa's Press. He writes with a strong concern for poetic form and his poems won praise from Ted Hughes ('the deft fluency, the economy, the pure tone, the pang').
Cate Jacobs in her stunning debut collection Climbing Mountains in the Dark (Headland), charted her journey through diagnosis, betrayal, new love and loss ('fine poems, full of pain and rage, but nevertheless crafted with a fine poet's instinctive skill' - Willy Russell). Cate will present some of these and some more recent poems.
With music from Dominic Williams. This will be Dominic's last session as our resident musician, as he is moving away deom Liverpool. He will be missed.
