Open Mic Event
Contact: 1000monkeysguildford@gmail.com
Dónall Dempsey of the 1000 Monkeys hosts this regular open mic - first Monday of each month. Our featured poet this month is Eddie Chauncy.
Eddie lives in Guildford and is well known and very popular among audiences of Guildford poetry events.
Eddie specialises in the sonnet form, and his poems aim to be lyrical and thought-provoking, while reflecting the rhythms of everyday conversation. He likes to compare the art of a poet to that of a jeweller: the wish to make something beautiful that can catch light from as many angles as possible, but also be useful in some way.
He tends not to publish his poems, so coming along is one of the few ways to hear his work, plus a song or two!
As always, come to sign up from 7pm onwards and we start proceedings at 7.30. Last month we asked readers to bring a favourite poem as well as their own work and a very good time was had by all. Let’s do it again!
Entry: free (or voluntary donations)
Time: 7.00
