Southbank Speakeasy returns in 2016 for a night of poetic indulgence.
Headlining we have Miserable Malcolm Stroud’s most miserable poet, Miserable Malcolm has made a New Year’s resolution -- to spread his gloom and despondency far and wide. He’s coming down to the Southbank Speakeasy to do exactly that and will be harping on his usual themes of death, despair and his ex-girlfriend, Mavis.
Miserable Malcolm (Bill Jones) has performed at the Brighton and Barnstaple Fringes where his one man show, Graveside Manner, was described as “definitely a show to see”(The Daily Fringe). He is a Hammer & Tongue Slam winner and regularly performs at Mr Fluffypunk’s Pennygaff cabaret night in Stroud where “[his] ridiculous doom-laden stand-up routine and melancholic verse have the curious effect of cheering up the entire audience.” Stroud News and Journal
Malcolm is supported by his poetic opposite, maverick punk poet Jenn Hart. Jenn is a Bristol-based DIY anarcho-feminist spoken word artist with an attitude. She offers a female narrative to male-dominated locations like the mosh pit and she is not afraid to bare herself (sober or not) to strangers.
It's a paltry £3 on the door.
The evening kicks of with an open-mic. If you would like to share the stage with these great acts please get in touch
The night is curated and compered by Angie Belcher
