----------
Wigan poet Louise Fazackerley has been hailed by poets ranging from Ian McMillan to Attila the Stockbroker, and is one of the most engaging and accessible spoken word artists in the country. Last year's Kendal Calling Poet Laureate, associate of A Firm Of Poets and a rising star on the UK poetry scene: a show not to be missed.
Her album 'Love Is A Battlefield' is a result of a New Voices commission from BBC3's The Verb, which addresses the after-effects of war on the social and domestic lives of soldiers. 'Bird St.' is an incredible collection of visceral, vivid, heartbreakingly innocent and razor-sharp poetry which captures Louise at her best.
Support on the night comes from A Firm Of Poets co-founder and former Skint & Demoralised frontman Matt Abbott, whose debut solo spoken word show earned 5* reviews and full houses at last year's Edinburgh Fringe. He blends socio-political commentary with kitchen sink realism, with a unique, accessible and engaging style.
Both Louise's and Matt's CDs will be for sale on the night at £5 each. Doors are at 1900 for a 1930 start, and the event will be finished by 2200. Please note that this venue is small, and seating cannot be guaranteed.
