Our first guest storyteller for Talking Loud and Telling Stories will be the novelist and screenwriter Tricia Walker.

Tricia will be sharing her storytelling journey as her debut novel which started as a 10 page blog is now being planned for film production and is part of a national charity appeal. She will be reading extracts from her new work and holding a short Q&A session.

Her debut novel, Benedict’s Brother, about a young woman scattering her WW2 Prisoner of War uncle's ashes became the biggest selling debut launch of an unknown author in Borders UK bookstores and was selected as a Top 3 Book of the Year by Publishing News.

A feature film of the novel is now planned for production with Tricia as script consultant and one of the producers. A special Commemorative Edition of the book is now the focus of a national charity appeal. Tricia is currently writing the sequel to Benedict's Brother and editing her second novel.

Writing from an early age words played a large and defining part of family life for Tricia. Her father Peter, under the pseudonym Nicholas Rhea, came to prominence as the writer of the Constable series of books, which were the inspiration for the hugely popular and long running ITV drama Heartbeat.

Defining her own unique voice as a writer has always been and continues to be, both a challenge and a joy.

"I love the fact that such a wide spectrum of people read and connect with my work," said Tricia. "Their often moving response never fails to give me immense reward."
