Open Mic Event
Contact: 1000monkeysguildford@gmail.comcom
This is a special extra 1000 Monkeys event. Timothy Adés, rhyming poet and translator, is coming to join The 1000 Monkeys to present surrealist poetry by the French holocaust victim Robert Desnos, who tragically died a short time after he was liberated from a nazi concentration camp in 1945.
Desnos' work is surreal, surprising and original and Tim Adés translations and readings, some of which we heard last year at the Bar des Arts, are equally entertaining. There will be an open mic as well, and you're invited to find (or write) poems with a surrealist slant to read in the open mic, though the theme is optional for the open mic.
If you would like to read, sign up from 7pm as usual. It's a free event as always, hosted by Dónall Dempsey.
