David Francis is a singer-songwriter, and now film-maker, from New York. Already having an established writing, performing and recording career, ‘Village Folksinger’ is his first venture into film and it will be shown for the first time in Europe at Oswestry’s Hermon Chapel on Friday October 7th at 7.30pm.

David Francis describes his film a "musical documentary collage”. A fusion of image, drawing, interview and song, ‘Village Folksinger’ is an unglamorous, whimsical, and ecstatic celebration of a singer-songwriter's experience of New York ... and beyond.

Premiered at Anthology Film Archives New York City, the screening at Hermon Chapel Arts Centre is the first screening of the film in Europe and will be followed by a Question & Answer session with David Francis hosted by Dave Reeves the live literature and new music presenter for West Midlands based internet radio station Radio Wildfire. The two met online and Dave has been championing David Francis’ work for a number of years now.

David Francis will finish off the evening by playing some of his songs live in his highly engaging and compelling style.
