Poets have long drawn inspiration from painters and sculptors; with the rise of a new generation of artists challenging traditional media, can we find in them a source for poems which push boundaries in a similar manner? Tamar will take participants into gallery spaces to engage with contemporary art and to encourage new poems in response. We will also look at parallels between the gallery as a space for exhibition and the page as a dynamic space for composition, and, based on the tutor’s own experience, will discuss the technicalities of artist / poet collaborations, publications and residencies. The course will be held over two Saturdays: the first day for gallery visits, the second day to workshop poems stemming from the gallery experience.
A two-day workshop running 10:30 – 16:30 on Saturday 15 October (Gallery Day) and Saturday 19 November (Workshop Day).
Price: £144.00
Time: 10:30
