So ... we were so shook up by what we heard at the last SiS, we are dyeing (geddit?!) to do it all again. So come and be shaken by the wonderful words of Rosalind York and Dan Whitaker warmed up and cooled down by some ace open micers and kept simmering and occasionally being given a stir, by me, Gill Lambert. All happening in the lovely surroundings of Bojangles. With light, and sound. Definitely. I hope.

10th November 2016

Headlining on 10th November at Shaken in Sheep Town.

Dan Whitaker started performing age 16 on the Poems, Prose and Pints stage at the Tap and Spile, Harrogate. Moving to Sheffield at 18 Dan was a founding member of the University of Sheffield Poetry society and a core member of the University slam team. A new member of Writing squad and tutee of Helen Mort, Dan is making his first exploration into page poetry with a short Pamphlet; 'Know-it-all' being released with OFW Press. His work explores simple themes through an innocent and childish perspective resulting in touching, heartfelt poetry.

"Dan Whitaker’s poems stand on the threshold between growing up and adulthood - so fresh and demotic you’re right in there with him as he turns over the experience and wisdom, the love and loss, gives it all a good shake - before deciding whether to jump." - Steve Dearden

Rosalind York read Theatre at Dartington College of Arts before starting a family and losing every sock she has ever possessed. Since then, she has been a prizewinner in the York Open and Guernsey International Poetry on the Buses poetry competitions and has been collected in Other Poetry and Otley Word Feast Press anthologies. Her short story A Spaceman Came Travelling was published in an anthology from Leeds Trinity University and Indigo Dreams and her poetry pamphlet The Flank of a Fish is out now from Otley Word Feast Press.
