Open Mic Event

Dónall and Janice Windle continue to host open mics with a monthly feature, on the first Monday of each month. We've moved to the Castle Lounge upstairs at the Keep, where the poets' voices won't be competing with student drinking games and darts matches.

Guest this month is Lisa Kelly. Lisa is half Danish and half deaf. Her pamphlet Bloodhound is published by Hearing Eye and she is a regular host of poetry evenings at the Torriano Meeting House, London. She has a Masters, with Distinction, in Creative Writing from Lancaster University. She teaches creative writing and poetry in performance at the Torriano Meeting House. Lisa is a board member of Magma Poetry, and the current Chair. She co-edited issue 63. Her poems have been widely published, most recently in PN Review, New Walk magazine and South Bank Poetry.

Open mic spots are 5 minutes - arrive before 7.30 to be sure of a slot, or email us the day before and arrive before 8.30 on the day. All kinds of poems and all kinds of experience of reading are welcome. We have a raffle and a tip-jar (both voluntary) to pay our guest poets so you might like to bring a couple of £1 coins but reading, performing and listening are free.!
