March winds and April showers bring forth May flowers.
"Among the changing months, May stands confest
The sweetest, and in fairest colours dressed." So said James Thomson. Though Shakespeare said, "Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May." I won't forecast how it will be, but chances are there'll be some breaks in the cloud, then heed Khalil Gibran, "Be like a flower and turn your face to the sun."
If you need to escape the wind and rain, then why not pop along to our writers workshop up the winding stairs at The Royal Oak between the East End of York Minster and Monkgate Bar?
Even if it's sunny, come and sound us out and share your literary creations and concoctions be they poetic, prosaic, smooth and sweet confection or bitter herbs.
Please bring 5 or 6 copies of your work or excerpt, up to 2,000 words or four sides of A4, and £2 if you're a waged, otherwise £1.
Looking forward to seeing and hearing you and yours.
Let us hope that, to twist Oliver Goldsmith's words, Winter doesn't "linger to chill the lap of May."
Adrian
Entry: £2 waged, £1 unwaged
Time: 5:30pm
