Marsden Write Out Loud’s 2017 jazz festival poetry jam promises to be even better, in spite of last year’s fantastic feedback:
Great atmosphere
...fantastic variety of different poems/poets
…to make us laugh, cry and join in to
Gets better each year!
Brilliant experience and feel inspired to write a poem!
Better? Your continued enthusiastic support has seduced us into creating Marsden the Poetry Village, where you’ll find shelves of poetry books for you to read in pubs and cafés, and festival-themed poems in shop windows (from 28th Sept for two weeks) to add to the already fabulous atmosphere at this annual festival in the verdant Pennines.
Though some said last year was the best yet, there were complaints: No seats. Standing room only. So get there early! Especially if you’d like to read (all welcome, beginners to Nobel laureates); or just listen and enjoy.
Reviewer Judy Gordon wrote:
"The range of poets and ages at the morning session in the welcoming Railway pub was an eye and ear-opener. They were all there - the young, the older and plenty my age. Men, women, boys, girls, the experienced, the learners, the confident, the nervous, the proud, the modest, the loud, the whisperers, the gentle, the threatening. The quality of the work was the most startling thing – all extremely good, some outstanding and yet more simply astonishing."
