JUSTIN'S JUST RIGHT FOR JANUARY'S WRITE ANGLE!
Last time, Southend-on-Sea based performance poet Justin Coe was at Write Angle, his “burst of energy as he leapt on stage and continued on into 'overtime', almost all but wiped out the stresses and traumas of the last year! He's full of talent and natural warmth – a joy to watch as he sings with guitar and gets his audience to follow along”.
He's on a mission to reconnect people with poetry. A performance poet - funny, lively, welcoming and energetic. Often host of one of Brighton's longest running spoke word cabarets, 'Dont Feed the Poets'.
For 20 years he's taken his puckish poetics and heartfelt humour to theatre venues, schools, and libraries throughout the UK, as well as from Sheppey to Shanghai and The Savoy Hotel to street corners, steam trains and a sitting room made entirely out of newspaper.
He's specialised in creating spoken word theatre shows for families and young audiences, including 'Big Wow Small Wonder' which toured nationally with Half Moon Productions, the co-written/performed Papertale Production shows 'One Way Ticket' and 'Boys Don’t'; and his debut solo production 'The Jumble' Book, nominated for Best Children’s Show in the Brighton Fringe.
Alongside fellow poets Rosie Harris and Sophie Rose, he co-wrote and performed 'One Way Ticket', which explored the child migration scandal of the 1950’s and toured both theatre venues and moored ships throughout London and the South East.
Highlights of this year have included the publication of 'The Dictionary of Dads', which earned wide praise from critics and readers alike. Performing 'Boys Don't', to packed crowds at the main Brighton Festival, working at the National Horse Racing Museum on an educational project and at Half Moon Theatre, with support from The Arts Council, creating 'Young Herbert's Horrors'.
We're pleased to have Justin guest perform at Write Angle prior to the opening of this latest show - a selection of work to delight both adults and children. If anyone can bring the 'child' out of the adult, and the magic out of an evening, Justin will do it!
Come along on Tuesday 16th January, to the Townhouse Pub/Bistro, Petersfield, starting at 7.30, for the performance that will leave you smiling and still humming along!
