Born in Punjab, North India, Jasvir started writing in the 1970s reflecting the lives of South Asian women. By the 1980s Jasvir has established herself as a strong voice within the community and attracted support and controversy towards her work which often spoke out on taboo subjects.
Her first book of short stories 'Geji' was published with huge success and three followed.
Soon Jasvir began to seek new methods of reaching diverse audiences including a career in radio broadcasting. After training at the BBC, her first presenting job on Radio Harmony led her to firmly fix her place as a presenter that listeners tuned into.
She established herself as a popular presenter on BBC WM, Radio Sangam, Radio XL and Ambur Radio, discussing challenging topics and sharing her writing.
