This Border Crossings brings together poets from different countries within the UK. Màrtainn Mac an t-Saoir / Martin MacIntyre is an acclaimed poet and storyteller writing in Gaelic. His most recent short story collection was shortlisted for both the Donald Meek Award and the Saltire Literary Book of the Year in 2014, and he was previously crowned Bard by An Comunn Gàidhealach. Reading alongside Màrtainn is Owen Lowery, a former British Judo champion who turned to poetry after a spinal injury left him tetraplegic. In his two full-length collections, Owen challenges the reader to explore beyond boundaries of place, language and genre. His most recent collection, Rego Retold, responds to the work of Portuguese painter Paula Rego.
Owen Lowery's appearance at StAnza is commissioned and supported by Unlimited, celebrating the work of disabled artists, with funding from Arts Council England.
