We are delighted to present the Royal Literary Fund Lecture by Sasha Dugdale on the theme of translation, entitled ‘Pushkin is Our All!’ Pushkin, unlike Chekhov, Dostoyevsky and Turgenev, remains relatively unknown in the Anglophone world: his poems are best known as operas and his bibliography has been eclipsed by his romantic biography. In this lecture, Dugdale introduces you to ‘My Pushkin’, the Pushkin of Marina Tsvetaeva and Anna Akhmatova, and talks about how a poet who is so central to a culture can go so utterly unrecognised outside that culture.
