31st May 2018
This month's Words & Ears in Bradford on Avon, on Thursday May 31st, will feature guest poets Claire Williamson and Susan Richardson, and is in support the BoA Women's 100 initiative, marking 100 years of women having the vote. Claire has kindly donated a copy of her new book, 'Visiting the Minotaur '(Seren), for a prize draw on the night – all money raised will go to the initiative's two charities, Splitz, and the Malala Fund. Michel Faber says about Claire's work: “Claire Williamson’s poems are beguiling hybrids – self-assured yet emotionally raw, mysterious yet not precious, meditations of wonder and exorcisms of grief.” Susan Richardson's fourth collection, Words the Turtle Taught Me (Cinnamon Press), is themed around endangered marine species, and grew out of a residency with the Marine Conservation Society. Philip Hoare describes it as ‘vital, glorious, salutary’. You can hear/see Susan read at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2TFKfkJNMQ
