‘Milton! thou shouldst be living at this hour’. This talk by Dr Tess Somervell explores the Romantics’ conflicted relationships with their predecessor, John Milton. Keats, Wordsworth, and their contemporaries related Milton’s great poem 'Paradise Lost' to their own revolutionary age, but they also understood Milton as a product of the seventeenth century and the English Civil War.
