This is work that explores the influence of those half-imaginary places on the European psyche, and how their legacy continues to influence our notions of identity and belonging.
Lyonesse
The land that sank beneath the waves between Cornwall and Brittany is raised up again in new, specially commissioned work from West Country poet and environmentalist Dom Bury, early music specialist Sophia Brumfitt, percussionist Dhevdhas Nair, and German theatre director, climber and academic Katharina Engel.
The Capital of Europe
An installation of treated sound, found objects, and cut up poetry, by sound artist Charles Webber and Strasbourg based poet Mick Wood. Join them in our Marchland Arms snug for an unguided tour through the abandoned corners, quiet squares and restless banlieues of an ideal, unreal city on the Rhine.
Ionic
The lounge bar at The Marchland Arms becomes a café in fin de siècle Alexandria. Greek singer Savina Yannatou, composer and electric guitarist Alex Roth, and Greek classical guitarist Nikos Baroutsakis team up with young choreographer Janacek Wood to create a new dance theatre piece based on the poetry of Constantin Cavafy.
Entry: £15 - £20
