Sunday 28 August, 10am-4pm

Create a poem thru a series of playful exercises, creative inspiration & time to explore and hone your work. For older / aging / elder women.

Stone the Crones presents a day-long poetry workshop, facilitated by Anita Karla Kelly, produced & hosted by Beccy Golding.

You will be guided by expert facilitator and respected writer Anita Karla Kelly to create and develop a poem, through a series of playful exercises, creative inspiration, and time to explore and hone your work.

Short one-to-one session with Anita available during the workshop to develop your work. At the end of the day there will an opportunity to present your poem to the group.

• Venue: The Elephant House, Bedminster, Bristol BS3 www.theelephanthouse.net/
• Access: venue has flat access and accessible toilets
• Tea, coffee and cake provided, bring your own lunch
• 10 places available to keep the group small and personal
• This workshop is open to anyone who identifies as an older / aging / elder woman

Cost
• £75 standard rate
• £60 low income / unable to afford the standard rate
• £40 no income / unable to afford the low income rate
(plus booking fee)

There are two £20 bursary places available for those who would otherwise not be able to take part in the workshop. Email poetbee@beccygolding.co.uk if you would like to apply for a bursary place.

About your facilitator
We are delighted to welcome Anita Karla Kelly as the facilitator for this workshop.
Anita’s latest stage play, Buzzing, was part of Bristol Old Vic’s Rep season, tackling sexuality, mental health, teenagers and bees. Anita is part of Sphinx 30 women’s playwright initiative, the new writing group at Royal Court Theatre, Graeae’s ‘write to play year six’ and the playwright group ‘open sessions’ at Bristol Old Vic. Her latest monologue Flesh, was voted as one of the top eight monologues written in lockdown by The Guardian. Her latest radio piece produced with Naked Productions received Highly Commended at the BBC Audio Awards 2021. She has been commissioned by Theatre Royal Plymouth for ’The Day the Birds Disappeared’.
Anita is a mentor on the MA programme at Central School of Speech and Drama. She is currently writing a graphic novel ‘Land of the Pretty’ funded by Arts Council England.
Anita runs brilliant creative writing and poetry workshops. She also runs workshops for Misfits theatre company.

About Stone the Crones
Stone the Crones offers workshops and a spoken word night featuring older / aging / elder women.
Stone the Crones is about finding our voices and reclaiming the concept of crone as a fierce, strong, wise elder woman. It’s about recognising our energy, wisdom, talent and creativity. Bristol’s women have long been at the cutting edge of creativity in the city – it is important that as we age our experience, skills, cultural capital and strong fierce voices are not lost.
Stone the Crones is supported by a Bristol City Council Originators grant.

About Beccy Golding
Beccy Golding is the creator & producer of Stone the Crones and will be hosting the workshop, there to welcome you to the space, introduce you to your workshop facilitator and join in the journey of creating a poem from scratch.
Beccy lives in south Bristol . She was a youth and community worker in Bristol for 15+ years; in green, independent and community publishing for 15+ years. She is currently an arts administrator, fool, writer and poet.
In 2015 Beccy created QWIM+ a menopause support community on Facebook with around 1000 members. In 2021 she was awarded an Arts Council England Developing Your Creative Practice grant to develop her practice as a poet.
