Poetry Break Out is being led by local poet Dr Andrew Rudd, who is an associate lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University, where he teaches creative writing, particularly poetry. He was Poet-in-Residence at Manchester Cathedral.
In his MMU profile Andrew says ‘Writing poetry, at any level, can open up an excitement at the world and the language which we create to respond to it. Keep reading, especially reading that takes you out of your zone of familiarity and comfort’. In Poetry Break Out he’ll be sharing the excitement that writing poetry brings, using a variety of ways – within our familiarity zones and outside them – through the day to encourage us to explore our appreciation of poetry, and work on ideas and techniques for our own writing.
Poetry Break Out is free, but places available are limited, so register as soon as possible. A two-course lunch and refreshments are included.
We’ll send you further details once you’ve registered.
