Book launch for 'A bit like falling in love' book with guests Tim Brookes and Faye Marshall ❤️
Sarah L Dixon lives in a glorious Huddersfield valley. Sarah’s new book about being a 90s indie kid, A bit like falling in love, has received glowing reviews from 90s indie legends including Jim Bob (Carter), Jonn Penney (Neds) & Ian Dench (EMF).
Tim Brookes was born in 1967 to a British father and an Anglo-Indian mother. He has lived and worked in West Yorkshire most of his life. He used to teach but had to retire after suffering a series of Strokes. Poetry has come to him late in life after having to learn to write again in Hospital.
Tim has poems published by: Black Nore Review, Dreich, Calder Valley Press, Red Shed Poetry Post Code Prize 2022, 2024 (shortlisted), Post Code Prize 2023 (Winner) and Yaffle Press. He has also been interviewed and has read on several podcasts and local radio. He is co-founder of WordFolk poetry collaborative with friend and poet Faye Marshall. Tim organises and hosts Getting Gobby in the Lobby spoken word night. In December 2023 he brought out his first pamphlet Keep Taking Six Away from 100 published by Yaffle Press.
Faye Marshall is a poet, spoken word artist and writing workshop facilitator. Faye founded the Cloth and Coal poetry community in south Leeds and is one half of Wordfolk Poetry, facilitating writing workshops with fellow West Yorkshire poet, Tim Brookes. Faye has hosted workshops and panels in the UK, Europe and Central America, and she continues to work with local and international organisations to support their creative programmes. Faye is currently co-editing an anthology with Mark Coverdale of Tonic Sta Press and her debut pamphlet will be published in Spring 2025 by Yaffle Press.
