Creative life-writing class starting in Todmorden

I'm starting a writing class in 2 weeks time in Todmorden. Branching out into teaching and running workshops in creative writing is a new venture for me, and I'm really looking foward to this first big crack at it. If you are in Tod or the Calder Valley have a look at this, and get in touch if you fancy coming! Hopefully appearing on the Gig Guide soon.

swim around us, goggle-eyed!

You like to sleep face down

so you flop upon me,

my warm fur belly your bed.

I like to lie on my back

so you are my covers,

our strong hare arms...

American Dream

I was travelling in America in October and while I was there I did this poem at Chicago's famous Uptown Poetry Slam, 'where slam began', which was a fab night, go there if you can! Well I had to didn't I? This poem is about my fascinations and contradictions about that great nation, partly why I was there. (The photo is me, there, honest, just taken on my rubbish mobile.)

Beginning of a journey

I’m about to go on a 2 month world trip - tomorrow in fact! After my Dad died last year (and a year of sitting quietly absorbing, feeling and processing all that), this year I woke up inspired to get on with the things that you dream of doing before you can no more! One of these things is travelling so here we go!

It’s quite a personal journe...

Myself and Alison McCabe are organising this amazing night of fab women writers including the wonderful Clare Shaw, Meriel Malone, Jackie Hagan, Steph Pike... and ourselves! There will also be an open mic slot, so women bring your writing!

It's on Fri 16 July, check out the gig guide if this image is too small to read the details. Cheers.

Please note, we had to change the venue, it's no...
