Middleton 22nd March
We were a select group of only 15 tonight, but a brilliant, warm, inviting and hilariously funny one nonetheless including two fantastic newcomers, Jenny Fitton and Alan McKee who both really blew our poetic socks off!
Feedback recieved on the night was:
Positives: welcoming, good atmosphere, all good, cakes, inspiring, my poems (ta Dermot!), new people, variety and humour, the range and newcomers, variety and newcomers, newcomers and everything.
Areas For Improvement: it's cold, cold, cold, your poems, ambience, tough and chilly, bit cool, bit of threat, newcomers.
Aye, it was decidedly chilly but that's becuase no one told the barmaid that we were going to be here so she didn't put the heating on for us and get the room warm prior to our arrival, next time I will make sure that I also ring up on the actual day just to confirm the booking.
I really liked the return to the circle of chairs and a few others mentioned that they liked it too. I didn't recieve any negative feedback about it either verbally or via the feedback book so the circle will stay for the time being at least!
Finally, another HUGE thanks and well done to Katie Haig who once again co-compered with me. I think we make a rather fantastic team if I do say so myself!

It was another great night at the old boars head. And yes although it was cold we warmed the atmosphere with some great poetry. Gemma brought back an old favourite loved by all " My Grandma Painted Her Eyebrows On" which got a huge reaction. Also she finished by giving us a very special treat of a song on OCD, which was greatly and widly enjoyed. I enjoyed co compering although my pronounciation needs some work as well as my endless list of mistakedly saying peoples names wrong but I try. I also enjoyed our two new poets and thought they both showed great confidence because we all know how hard it is to get up in front of us lot for the first time. So well done. I cant get over the amount of talented poets there is out there of which a few years ago I new nothing of. So well done everyone for some great poetry I enjoyed it emensely. P.s sorry if anything is spelt wrong.

The warmth of the supportive atmosphere more than made up for the cool room. I tend not to feel the cold anyway.
Thanks to the the co-comperes (or should that be co-commeres).
