Middleton 25th April
Last night we showcased and bid a fond farewell to the spectacular Simon Ellis. Him and his poetry will be very much missed when he departs for Germany next month!
We had 16 poets and audience members who left the following feedback:
Positive: loved it, really good poems, great poems, great pomes and lovely cakes, the lovely old building, craic, company, folk, company, different.
Areas For Improvement: none, noisy screechy woman in the next room, get the curtains fixed to reduce noise distractions, awful noise from bar, noise from bar, curtains, another venue, quieter venue.
I will do my best to get the curtains fixed and will speak to the landlady before next month- fingers crossed!
Finally, a massive thank you from me to Gus, I love that poem :)

ah please dont ever consider another venue...16th Century pubs are hard to come by...and we cant expect the world to be silent cos were reading our poems.
maybe the curtains will help. we went on to hold a 'workshop' type gathering in a snug part of the bar area which was cosy and had gorgeous copper topped tables and a fire.
room for improvement : none. its fine as it is...we are all such bloody perfectionists.

once i had some store window dummies in the boot of an estate car...
policeman said to me 'whats that in the back?' so i says 'oh, you know, just bodies.' it was a fortunate diversion from the fact the car had no tax, insurance mot etc and that it was stolen....nothing to do with me tho, i was just driving the bodies home....ive never been so relieved though when he realised the dummies werent real and let me go..haha
did he look at your poetry in the end?

yes police are annoying...i used to have a skin head(!)and was forever gettin pulled over as they thought i was young scallie in stolen sport car. haha they always looked really embarrased and gave me producer for documents...complete pain in arse.
