Last night was another great night at our new venue with a turn out of 23 poets and audience members.

John performed a well thought-out, written and performed set and Rod was picked as next month's guest. Norm will be next month's compere.

Remember that next month's night will be 5-7pm as there is music downstairs afterwards.

Feedback recieved on the night:

Good Points: Cakey goodness; poets, poems and Gem's lovely cakes; great poems; great poems; excellent, proves we don't need a PA in this room; quality poems and atmosphere; good evening; enjoyed it; quality and variety; superb verses; good mix; another good night; a room full of good poets and poetry; a room full of good poets; well lit room; quiet room; nice number of people and variety.

Areas For Improvement: Scary bug art; a bit bright; more cakes with no calories; more time; more upstairs toilets; all guest poets to be excellent as tonight.

Well, um, I'm no electrician or plumber nor can I take down the bug pictures. I can't physically bend the laws of physics to make two hours longer than two hours so it will stay at one poem each per round (unless you get the guest slot of course) and cakes without calories? Should I come up with a recipe for them, don't expect me to be mucking about with writing anymore!

It was a vibrant and varied night, I know without the motorway delays on Sunday there would have been a lot more there.

I wish more would come to Middleton it is always a good night and the new venue is a big improvement.

Thanks to those who purchaased books from me, I was able to donate £35 to the Alzheimer's Society on Monday morning.

Yes - it was a very pleasant night John. Such a shame about the 3/4 hour delay I had on the M62 though - I might have heard more poetry otherwise...

I think Sunday evenings are never good days to hold poetry events on. If you've had a hectic week-end and you're psyching yourself up for work the next day, it's sometimes hard to find the energy.

Well done, again, Gemma, It was a wonderful night, with some great poetry and a superb feel to it; made a little weird for me having last been in that room when my sister ran the folk club there in the 1970s - it was one that Mike Harding visited regularly in the early days, as he lived just up the road in Crumpsall.
Thanks to you all for that. I do think it is better than the Olde Whore's Bed. Onwards and upwards.
