Site down earlier today
Hi all,
If you tried to use the site earlier today, you may have seen warnings about invalid certificates and not have been able to reach the site. Please be assured there are no security issues and apologies for the downtime.
The problem came from our DNS provider updating our records during an upgrade without notifying us that the upgrade would include this change. This resulted in the writeoutloud.net address pointing at the wrong server IP address (and therefore not matching our certificate). It is corrected now. Apologies again for the problems.
Regards,
Paul

Paul,
I noticed this at the time. Good to read there was no security issue.
Is there an improvement to the system that can be made to communicate this, though? Users can only find out if there is a problem once the problem has been resolved. Would a second means of communication help? Say, something on a WOL Facebook page? (No doubt you’ll tell me there already is!)

Thanks Paul - I wondered if it was just my laptop, good to know it's not.
And John, it's a good shout, the first thing I do if any website or service doesn't seem to be working is check out Twitter for more information. I'm not on FB though (*shudder*). ?

Hi anyone who might help - I can't download any audio clips from my phone (mp4a) via my desktop which I click browse and normally it appears on the blog. The text comes through but not the audio clip. Twice this week . As far as I can see nothing has changed with the phone, but the sound recording format appears to have changed some visual content. Any ideas please?
Thanks. Ray
Thanks. Ray

Re the above problem, as an experiment I was able to download previously posted audiofiles on to a blog page, but not the two latest ones using the same procedure. The problem occurred on the 31 July and the 9 august. I have not noticed any other audio postings today, so wonder if others have found a problem.
Thank you . Ray
