Using Tags in Blogs

As you may know we've now got this 'Tag' facility on blogs and I've been thinking about how this facility could be used and here are a few suggestions:

If everyone tagged every poem they posted on blogs with the tag "Poem" then when you set the tag Filter to "Poem" when viewing Blogs you would see only those blogs with this tag.

Perhaps, some people want help with a poem so they could tag their poem "Poem,Help" and people who want to provide assistance could set the tag filter to "Poem,Help" and see only those types of poems.

Similarly, poets who wanted a poem reviewed could use the tag "Poem,Review" and reviewers could set the tag filter accordingly.

If a group of people are working together on something (e.g. an anthology or group poem) then by tagging their blogs in a particular way e.g. "Mygroup" then all the members of the group could set the tag filter accordingly and view only the groups blogs - though, of course, everyone else can see them too if they want to.

So two or three ideas that may help how you use this new facility. And remember that 'Tags' aren't set in stone you can always remove or change them whenever you want to.

I'm hoping to that it will trigger new ideas of how to group blogs together to help manage your way through the huge number of blogs we have here.

There is an alternative to wading through the growing mass of postings, which incidentally will continue to increase, and that is creating separate like minded groups.

Paul Blackburn has devised a superb working alternative which has been taken up with all the enthusiasm of wet weekend in a Whitley Bay caravan site. I for one can not understand why the countless number of moans and groans I hear, apart from mine of course, related to the increase in daily postings and the irritation of multi posting cannot now be eased by this initiative.

I therefore invite like minded poets to join my gang thereby enabling the system to be easier to use, i.e. with best will in the world I am not conversely I read enthusiastically posted submissions from certain other poets which I prefer.

This system enables the system to be less of a marathon and helps return us to the halcyon days of reading and discussing poetry with those that are likeminded.
That is not to say for one moment that I want to encourage platitudes and meaningless backslapping, not at all, meaningful critique would be a preferred objective.

Please think about this way forward, should you not wish to join Gus Jonsson's Group so be it, start your own and help make the system less wieldy.

I welcome your thoughts on this matter.

TAG: Gus Jonsson Group
Many thanks.

Couple of more ideas for you.

When the Wolop results are announced, the nominees could all put the Wolop tag in their relevant poem. Then the rest of us can see these poems easily.

Second, maybe a group of you want to have an on-line anthology, so you can group together poems by tagging them with whatever you are calling your anthology.
